Valley Medical Code of Conduct
Dear VMG Community,
I am proud to share Valley Medical Group (VMG)’s new Patient Code of Conduct. At VMG, we strive to provide the best clinical care and experience possible. This Code of Conduct is intended to create a safe, welcoming environment for both our patients and our staff.
VMG’s Code of Conduct was created collaboratively with the input of patients, staff, managers, providers, Human Resources, and our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee. Many health systems, throughout the state and country, have adopted similar approaches as aggressive or discriminatory behaviors have risen.
We look forward to partnering with you to assure that VMG remains a safe and kind place.
Thank you,
Paul Carlan, MD
President, Valley Medical Group
We are honored to care for you. We take this responsibility very seriously and are dedicated to serving you with the highest degree of respect and ethical decision-making. Everyone is welcome at Valley Medical Group and can expect to receive quality care in an environment where they are safe, cared for, and valued. In turn, we expect our patients/visitors to interact with our staff and providers in a civil and courteous manner. Words or actions that are disrespectful, discriminatory, hostile, or offensive will not be allowed.
Examples of unwelcome behavior include:
• Offensive remarks or refusal to interact with clinicians or staff due to race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, size, or appearance
• Verbal or physical threats
• Physical assault, including spitting or throwing objects
• Vulgar or sexual remarks or behavior
• Disrupting another patient’s care
We will take appropriate action, including discharge from our practice if a patient/visitor exhibits behavior that is unsafe, threatening, or creates a risk to the safety of our staff and other patients.
