Motivational Interviewing and Consultation at Valley Medical Group

John J. Novo, LMFT, CADAC II provides Motivational Interviewing Training and consultation to behavioral health clinicians, health care providers, substance abuse counselors, and other professionals involved in behavior change.

John is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified alcohol and drug abuse Counselor level II in Massachusetts. He has been a practicing clinician since 1987 and is currently the behavioral health team leader here at Valley Medical Group. He works with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing a wide variety of substance abuse and mental health issues. He also regularly consults to the primary care practice on substance abuse and behavioral health problems and has provided training in interviewing skills, including motivational interviewing, to primary care providers and staff.

John received training in motivational interviewing from William R. Miller, Ph.D., Theresa Moyers, Ph.D., and Carolina Yahne, Ph.D. in New Mexico in 2000. He recently completed the training for new trainers (TNT) in Motivational Interviewing in Portland, ME with Stephen Rollnick, PhD and Gary Rose, PhD in October 2004.

John is available for trainings in Motivational Interviewing, supervision and follow-up coaching for those who already have Motivational Interviewing training. Trainings are designed specifically to meet the needs of the trainees in their specific setting.
